MnUSA Hosts 2nd Annual Veterans Appreciation Ride

On Thursday February 11, 2010 fifty three veterans from across Minnesota gathered at the VFW in Hinckley, MN for a day of snowmobiling. Riders included both retired and active military personnel. “MnUSA and MSEAF are hosting this annual snowmobile ride as a token of our appreciation to our veterans who have given part of their lives to serve all of us”, according to Terry Hutchinson, Director at Large of the Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association (MnUSA) and co-chair of this event. Larry Shepherd co-chair and President of Minnesota Snowmobile Educaiton and Advancement Fund (MSEAF) and Hutchinson initiated this ride with the intent for it to continue for many years to come.

After a welcoming get together at the Hinckley VFW we headed out to enjoy a day of riding on the grant-in-aid snowmobile trails in the local area. Mother Nature cooperated with beautiful weather including lots of sunshine. A lunch stop was made at the Hinckley Flames snowmobile club house with a wonderful lunch prepared by some of their club members. Then off to more trail riding on the beautifully groomed trails maintained by the local snowmobile clubs. The day ended with a sit down roast beef supper at the Pine City American Legion. Door prizes were provided by some of the local businesses for our veterans.

Snowmobilers in the local area came out to help make this ride a great success. The ride route planning, trail guides, and the hard work they did to make this happen was appreciated by all who participated. The Veterans that participated requested that we let them know when this will take place next year, commenting that it was a great day!
